KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE OF UNDERGRADUATE NURSING STUDENTS TOWARD OLDER ADULTS
MetadataShow full item record
This Study examined whether relationships with older adults affects undergraduate nursing students’ attitudes towards elderly and the effects of nursing curriculum and past clinical exposure in geriatric nursing. Data were collected through an internet-based survey, which was completed by 35 undergraduate nursing students of a small midwestern state university. Quantitative analysis of responses indicated that nursing students generally have positive attitudes towards elderly. Geriatric related courses in the nursing program have little effect in helping students feel prepared to work with elderly, but having older friends has positive effects in shaping the attitude of nursing students towards older adults.
